UPDATE: New phone!

I went back to the store today. The service tech looked at it for like 10 minutes (or less) and came back out with it. He said that he ordered me a new phone but that the downside is since it's so close to Christmas, I may not get it before Monday. Who cares when I get it! I'm surprised that I'm getting a new phone for free! It doesn't replace my music and pix but that's ok. After the last time this happened, I found an application to retrieve the pix and save them on the computer.

Deja Vu?

It seems that my phone has completely erased my memory card - no pics, no music, no NOTHING! Why is this happening?

I went to the phone store today and the service tech was at lunch. The guy asked if I wanted to leave it and then come back. Of course, you already know my answer.... Uh, no. I'll come back. I had too many errands to go back today. It looks like I may go tomorrow... Ugh!

Also, my phone freezes entirely too much. The guy said that he knows why that's happening and the service guy can fix it. He has no clue why the memory card was erased...

Any ideas, techie peeps?

May I have your order?

As I was heading to Ozark on Saturday morning, I decided I wanted some Hardee's breakfast. So, I headed on over. I was so excited because it looked like the drive-thru line was short. Looks can be so deceiving... On the other side of the building, the line was extending to the road. NO Hardee's for me :(

Well, I decided to chance the McDonald's which is NEVER a good choice at this particular McD. Against my better judgement, I decided to order McD chicken biscuit. As I was in a hurry, I grabbed the bag and left. As I was driving, I opened the biscuit to put mustard on it. It was the darkest piece of chicken I have ever seen. I knew right then, I was not in for a good breakfast. Well, while dealing with this unappetizing piece of ... something, I forgot I needed gas. I turn around to head back into town and finally take a bite of biscuit. I looked like a dog latched on to a chew toy trying to tear the chicken away from the biscuit. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful! I could feel the wrath of my mom bubbling through my core all the way up through my body. I never really get so mad that I make confrontations because I cry when I get mad. People really don't take you too seriously when you are babbling like a baby. However, I was DONE! I drove back to McD and took my week old leftover refried piece of... something to the manager. I proceeded to show him where I tried to take a bite out of it and couldn't do it. He looked at the chicken, took it to another manager so she could examine it and then came back to me. He said that the other manager was checking the fryer to make sure it wasn't overcooking all the chicken. ARE YOU SERIOUS???!!! That chicken could only have looked that way after being refried everyday for a week! The other manager came to me and said that it would be two minutes for a new biscuit... Now, I know they spit in my new biscuit but at least I could bite through the spit!

Biscuit #2 Notice the golden brown breading

Yard Sale, Take 1

This is my poor yard sale. It rained ALL DAY! (Except now, the sun is so bright now...) Christie and I debated on canceling but I said I would rather set up in my house than cancel. I want this stuff GONE. So, we did set up inside...

This is one wall of stuff. I took another picture, but it's gone from my camera (sounds vaguely familiar...) There was stuff ALL OVER my dining room.

BUT, I didn't want people "casing the joint" to see what I had in my house that they could come back later and steal. Sooo, Christie and I put up a sheet in the hall to block the rest of the house from view. Too Funny.

Well, since we got rained out, Chris and I decided to try again next week. But neither of us have room to store this cra... wonderful stuff. Now it's in my dining room. I can barely walk through the door. Oh my. WARNING: The next three pictures are not for the weak hearted. I almost faint just thinking of it. I can't wait until next weekend.
Please, GOD, don't make it rain next Saturday! I MUST get this stuff sold.

Grease is the word!

Today, I got an email from Travelzoo. They were offering 50% off tickets to Grease the Musical! WooHoo! I totally bought two tickets for the Best Available, which was in the Grand Tier. There were NO floor seats left! This place is gonna be packed. I can't wait. The tickets are for next Sunday night.

For those of you who don't know Travelzoo, you should really make acquaintance. This is an awesome website that sends weekly airfare, vacation, show deals. I've been upgraded to a VIP and that's how I got these awesome tickets! Go to travelzoo.com and sign up. It's free. BTW, I'm totally NOT getting paid to do this. I really think this is an awesome site and you should try it.

Yard Sale

Good morning, readers! Christie and I are planning a yard sale for tomorrow... Apparently it is going to rain. Oh well, I gotta get rid of all this cra.... great stuff! So come on by!

I'll let you know how we do later.

Overdose

I think I may have overdosed tonight at dinner. I'm feeling a little woozy and lightheaded. My eyes are sensitive to light AND sound! I don't even know how that happens. My eyes literally started watering when a loud commercial came on tv.

What did I OD on? ...caffeine! I haven't had caffeine in a while. I've been drinking a ton of water and an occasional sprite, but no caffeine. Well tonight, I met Carrie for dinner and decided I deserved a sweet tea. Well, at this particular Mexican restaurant you can take one sip of drink and they come to refill. I have no idea how much tea I actually drank. I do know that I took a cup to go and drank a lot there. I seriously think I overdid it. My body is in shock!

I still think I deserved it... I had choir rehearsal today after school that ends at 4:00 p.m. I was still there at 5:00 p.m. waiting on a parent to come get her child! When she finally got there, she blamed the fifth grader for not reminding her that she had choir. Helllllloooooo!!!! She's 10! AND I gave every parent a schedule of rehearsal dates so they would know ahead of time when we had rehearsal... I'm sorry, parents, don't blame your forgetfulness on your kids. AND don't lie to my face and tell me you didn't know the child was at choir until 4:15 p.m. when we called to see where you were, especially when the child called to remind you during school... (It helps to be friends with the secretary in the school office. She can tell you these little gems of info). Anyway, I'm sending a little note home tomorrow telling parents to look at the schedule I sent home and make plans to come get their child on Thursday afternoon... We'll see how much flack I get from parents when the letter goes home.

Anyway, have a great night and weekend!!!

I.V. of O.J.

I am SICK again!!!! What is going on here? I was well all summer (YAY!) and then I go back to school and NOW... SICK! I was not able to get in to see the Dr. but the nurse asked what my symptoms were and I told her. Apparently it didn't sound like the flu because the Dr. prescribed a Z pack, which is an antibiotic and will not touch the flu. My throat is soooo sore. It feels like a porcupine is shooting his quills through my throat. Blah.

On another note, Ryan's Memorial Fly-in was this weekend. His remote control airplane club hosted the 2nd annual event yesterday and today. I was able to attend yesterday. There was a wonderful tribute flight by two of the club members. Ryan's mom, Annette, has started a scrapbook of Ryan's life. She has done a beautiful job. It looks great just like it is, but she wants to add more. Chuck and Annette's nephew and niece came up for the fly-in. It was so good to see Brian, Krissie and the kids. The kids wanted Taco Casa for dinner last night, but Annette and I thought Dave's Dogs would be better :) Sooo, we decided to go to the mall food court where we could all get what we wanted (Dave's Dogs and Taco Casa are right across from each other). My chili cheese dog was DELICIOUS!! I just love Dave's. It truly is "all in the bun".

Thank God for long weekends because I definitely need some rest. Tomorrow, Bryan and I are smoking a boston butt. Yum Yum!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I would like to say "Happy Birthday" to a wonderful friend. She does not want to make a big deal about it, so I'm going to let her remain nameless. (Click on the word "friend" in the previous sentence)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Really?

I recovered the lost photos from my phone with a downloaded program. But now they are corrupted and won't open!!! Anyone know how to uncorrupt JPG files????? HELP!!!!!

Saturday, August 1, 2009

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was transferring pix from my phone to my computer. My computer decided to freeze, so I disconnected my phone from the comp. The comp ERASED all my pictures!!!! I USED the disconnect button! It shouldn't have erased the pix! Now, I've spent the WHOLE afternoon trying to restore the pix. But the recovery system is only finding pix that I meant to erase, not the ones the comp erased for me!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!

This had pix from NOLA that I was gonna post. It also had bulletin board pix that I was going to share. And it had pix from today of Teacher Appreciation at Staples and Office Depot... That stinks!

I'm so sorry, dear readers. I will not be able to post such cute pix :(

Hope you are having a better day...

PROCRASTINATION!

Today, I am finally at home with nothing to do!! WooHOO! Well, not really "nothing". I really need to clean my house. I left it a mess when I went to my Baba's house. So, I could do that but I am just watching my DVR! I'm so lazy... I also need to go deposit some checks for Pampered Chef so I can close my party. Maybe I'll do that and go get lunch. But I have food here to eat... I also need to get at least one of my classrooms ready for school... What to do, what to do?

Well, I haven't posted in a while and figured you would like to know what's going through my mind. HeeHee! Enjoy!

Summer School

I teach an enrichment program for 6 weeks during the summer. This is week 5. Only one more week!!! Well, today was our last day of the week because of the holiday weekend.

SANDY ~ YOU NEED TO SIT DOWN FOR THIS...

I decided to give my students stickers with pictures of the American flag or fireworks. Now, this may not seem like a big deal but it is. I NEVER give my stickers away. I'm like a sticker squirrel. So, I knew Sandy would not believe me. I took pictures to prove it! Below you will see my 2nd period class. There are only 3 girls in the class and 1 is a "helper".
Sandy still won't believe that I actually let them keep the stickers. She will think I staged the picture and made them give me the stickers back! She's so silly!

On a side note, this Saturday Christie and I checked out a produce stand near Sandy's house. It was nice. He was giving free ice cream to shoppers and had a lot of samples. He was also giving away a bunch of bananas to each customer. I'm not a huge fan of bananas, so Christie and I divided our bunch. I still had mine sitting on the counter today, looking VERY ripe! Well, I hated to waste them, so I made banana nut bread from scratch!!! I'm becoming Betty Crocker. It was yummy!

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Anniversary and RIP

This past weekend, Sandy emailed me a picture of my beloved bucket grill. We had forgotten to celebrate the two year anniversary of me purchasing the beauty. Below, you will find a picture of the bucket on the day of said purchasing. It's beautiful and as you will see, matches my "outside" dishes.

It is truly a great grill for one person. I've even invited friends over and cooked for them. Bryan LOVES the ribs I made on this lovely creature!

Then it happened, I went outside to grill up some pork chops for Bryan and I. I poured the charcoal in the metal pan and POOF they fell through! The bottom of the pan had rusted through! Oh my!!!! Not the bucket! Not my precious, dear friend, bucket. What am I gonna do?! How am I gonna come home from work and grill up a quick "dot dog" (hot dog for those not up on my cutesy words for random stuff)? I'm so distressed about this. And then I had to find another way to cook the pork chops! I almost gave up and just went through a drive-thru. But I couldn't let Bry down. I had to be a trooper and overcome this dilemma. I found a recipe online that pan seared the chops in butter and garlic. They were tasty but dried out :( Oh, I need my grill!

Now, I need a new grill, but I don't know how I could ever replace the bucket. We had become such close friends. We had two wonderful years together. I do know one thing. The next grill I have, will definitely come with a lid! Wish me luck!

I hate technology!

Ugh! I am so over it! I checked my mail this morning (I was too lazy to go back outside yesterday) to find bills, bills, and more bills. I also had a denial letter for a medical procedure that had already been approved and I'VE ALREADY HAD DONE! In addition to that lovely letter, I had a bill from my previous dr. that I already paid! This is the "FINAL NOTICE OF DEMAND FOR FULL PAYMENT". I KNOW I paid this because I called last month to see just how much I owed them because I was getting bills everyday. I have been to the dr. alot this year so I know why I'm getting a lot of bills, but I needed to know the total amount to pay.

So, I was ill all the way to work and was not in a pleasant mood for a while. I did snap out of it.

Upon arriving at home, I had a few things to do.

1. Put rice on to cook while I do other stuff.
2. Find approved medical procedure letter.
3. Find posted check number and date for the dr. bill.
4. Call the prior approval company.
5. Call billing company for dr.

I completed 1 - 3 pretty quickly. I called #4, and they said there were actually 3 different procedures that were requested. 2 by my prior dr. and 1 by my current dr. The two from before were denied. 1 was denied very quickly and I got the letter less than a week after the request. The 2nd by my previous dr. took almost 2 months to be denied. In fact, it was denied after the third was approved and completed. So, thank God that was the case. The procedure I did have is still approved and I am covered. Each dr. asked for the same procedure but with different reasons for me needing it. My current dr. wrote it with better reasons, I guess. Anyway, I'm glad that's taken care of.

Now on to #5. I called the company and explained the situation. She said she did not have a payment recorded. I told her the check number, the date on the check, and when it was posted to my account. So, she did a little more searching and found that it had posted to a different account. It is still my account but one is for hospital services and one is for something else, maybe labs or something. I don't know. Like I said, I've been to the dr. a lot lately! I can't keep up with everything, but I KNOW I paid that bill and I was correct. She said she would fix the problem and I was paid in full. WooHoo!

So, I hate computer errors. I was in a foul mood for nothing today. Good thing I snapped out of it.

Have a great day!

Let's Play Catch Up

First, thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers for my test. I won't know the results until November. I think I did ok and I am thinking positively! I WILL pass in November!

Secondly, Saturday, I was in my cabinet trying to reorganize. I decided to move the stuff from one cabinet to another cabinet. But I had to raise the shelf up a couple of holes because my stoneware is too tall. So, I cleaned out the cabinet, sprayed Clorox cleaner, wiped down cabinet, and went to raise the shelf. It was screwed in. No problem, I have a screwdriver set. Now, did you know that they make a square screw head? I sure did not! But luckily, my set had one... that did NOT fit! So, I tried everything, every screwdriver, ratchet, pliers, even a Pampered Chef paring knife (I was inspired by Sandy's grandmother, click here. It's a long post, scroll down to toaster oven.) None of those worked. I was just about to give up and take a saw to the shelf (just kidding). I gave it one last shot, a tiny tiny little flat head, much like an eyeglass screwdriver, and it WORKED! The flat head fit right in the square diagonally!! WooHoo! I was able to rearrange those two cabinets.

I'm working this summer. I teach music at an enrichment camp. It's pretty fun. I am at a different site this year and it is very different! Last year, the classes were assigned and sometimes doubled, meaning that class sizes were close to 20 - 25 students. That is a good size class because there are enough kids to play instruments, dance, and sing at the same time. This year, the students get to choose where they go and when. That means I could have 1 kid at a time!!! I can't do anything with one kid. They won't sing, they can't play the instrument parts, and they definitely won't dance! It's a pain. This week, I have pretty good class sizes. The smallest is four, which is blah, but much better than the 2 I had last week. My largest is probably 18 (two combined classes of 4/5/6 year olds.) We should have fun this week!

Not really much going on other than work... I should be cleaning, but I didn't get motivated today. I did clean this weekend though. I've got to play catch-up with cleaning since I'm done studying now...

It's Official...

I have officially quit studying for my National Board Assessment.  The test is tomorrow at 8 a.m.  If I don't know it by now, I won't know it...  So, I've decided to take some advice and take a break for tonight.  (I can't promise I won't look over it tomorrow morning... Last minute cramming)

There are six parts of the assessment:
1. Diagnostic Skills (identifying and correcting choral issues)
2.  Historical Repertoire (identifying historical time periods, discussing music from that time period, discussing music in relation to history/culture)  EEEEKKKK!!!!! I'm most scared of this one.
3.  Applied Theory/Composition (Vocal)  (write a song - so easy since I wrote 1/2 of my holiday program this past year)
4.  Instructional Strategies (Teach one concept six different ways, using aural, visual, kinesthetic)
5.  Music from a World Sample  (identify style or genre of selections of world music)  EEEKKK!  Again, I'm scared.
6.  Curricular Applications  (Given a song, describe how to teach the nine national standards - they choose four)

So I'm nervous about two sections and feel ok about the other four.  I'm so ready to be done with this test.  The bad part is I won't know the results until NOVEMBER!!  UGH!

Have a great weekend!

The Japanese Quest

As my love for Japanese grows stronger and stronger on a daily basis, I am on a quest to find the best grill in town. I have tried several. I prefer Sumo, but Bryan likes Stix. So, we are joining efforts to find a hibachi grill on which we can agree.

Sandy and I tried one over Spring Break near her house. We were not impressed by the disco ball birthday bash, nor the Carpenters played by pan flute, nor the fact that Sandy was not special enough to get a fork (I only got one because I chose salad over soup). Those were the least of the problems; the food was just not good at all.

A few weeks ago, Bryan and I went to a hibachi near his apt. I had heard great things about this establishment. Apparently the people recommending the restaurant had no taste buds and preferred their food overcooked. So once again, we were on the search for the perfect Japanese place.

Mr. Chuck, Ms. Annette, and I went to another steak house a couple of weeks ago while they were in town for a wedding. I liked it. Bryan liked my leftovers, but had been to that particular steak house before and thought it was dirty. I do remember mentioning that I was crunching something on the floor when I walked and the carpet was ripped under my chair by the grill. So, maybe he was right. The food was tasty though... (I think the waiter was flirting with me)

My school system sells coupon books to raise money. In this year's book, there was a coupon for another hibachi. Buy one meal, get one free (up to $13.50). As we looked at the menu, we realized that the only dish that was under that price, was the chicken. I always get steak and he always gets some sort of combo, usually shrimp and steak. So, I figured they would just take the $13.50 off and we would pay the difference, which is what they did. The soup was very flavorful, and had at least THREE mushrooms!! Wow! The salad was tasty and very fresh, but the dressing was a little too runny for me. The noodles were good too. Bryan even liked them (that's why he doesn't like Sumo - they serve noodles and he doesn't like them). I chose steak, as usual, but Bryan chose shrimp and calamari. I tried a piece of the calamari, but it was way tooooo fishy for me. He liked it. I only ate about three pieces of steak because I was so full. But those three pieces were delicious! I am so excited! Bryan and I have finally agreed on a Japanese steak house that we both enjoy!! (BTW, for those friends in my area, it was Yuki by Walmart).

As a side note, I am meeting some friends at Sumo... TONIGHT! Japanese twice in one weekend! WooHoo!!!! Then off to a bachelorette party!

Carrie!!

Carrie and I decided that TODAY would be our treat day for the Fact or Crap game!  We went to a local Mexican restaurant where I told her that part of her treat would be CHEESE DIP!  Then for dessert, a SOPAPILLA!!!!  WooHoo!!  We had a great time

On the way to eat, I picked up my prescriptions from the pharmacy.  I had two inhalers and 5 pills of an antibiotic.  It was $90!!!!!!!  What?!  I better get well soon.  I can't afford to be sick.  I'll make sure to get a record my medical expenses this year.  I may meet the amount required to claim it on my taxes.

I went to the allergist/ENT yesterday.  I have an appointment for an allergy test (the one where they prick me with a gazillion needles) and a CT scan of my sinuses.  I had an Xray of my sinuses yesterday and he said my septum is perfectly straight, so no surgery for a deviated septum.  WooHoo!  My sinus cavities are mostly clear.  He has a little concern over the cloudiness in the cavity above my nose, thus the CT scan.

Basically, no one knows why I've been sick for so long.  But I have three more appointments already scheduled to find out why.  We'll see.

Have a great weekend!

Last Thursday, I asked my readers to prove how well they know me. I have come to realize that they all know me pretty well!! We had a 5 way tie. Tough luck, boyfriend, you knew the rules, "Fact" or "Crap". So, I was forced to have a drawing. THURSDAY THIRTEEN: Fact or Crap?

Last weekend, P² and I hung out with Sandy and Mr. D. We went to eat at the local Mexican restaurant, "The Coz", and then back to Sandy's for some gaming. We thought some Wii would be fun. But originally it was supposed to be a board game night, so I suggested we play at least one. So Sandy got "Fact or Crap". It was definitely an interesting game. Sandy and I were horrible at it. One person reads a statement and the other players have to decide if it is fact or crap.

In honor of our fun time last weekend, Sandy and I have decided to do a Thursday Thirteen: Fact or Crap edition. On each blog, you will find 13 statements. You have to answer fact or crap to each statement. Please leave your answers in the comment section. Please have all answers submitted by next Tuesday. I will not post any comments until next Thursday. There will be a small prize for the person with the most correct answers. If there is a tie, I will have a drawing. Next Thursday, Sandy and I will reveal our answers in the Thursday Thirteen.

1. My favorite color is pink.
2. I have had whooping cough.
3. I have one younger brother.
4. I once was a pre-med major.
5. My childhood dream was to be a manager for WWF wrestlers.
6. I am addicted to chapstick.
7. P² and I are engaged.
8. My fave condiment is ketchup.
9. I HATE roller coasters.
10. I "borrow" my neighbor's wireless connection.
11. I collect keychains.
12. My favorite foods are Mexican and Japanese.
13. I want 3 children.

Be sure to leave your answers in the comment section. Check back next Thursday for the answers!!

Happy Easter!

Yesterday, I cooked my first Easter dinner. It was delicious, if I do say so myself. I cooked a ham, potato salad, deviled eggs, green bean casserole, orange stuff (I don't know the name of it), banana pudding, and rolls. It was so yummy! I took some pics of the spread.

Saturday night, Bryan and I dyed eggs. He is super sweet and will do cheesy stuff with me. We did all kinds of colors, it just happens that the ones we wrote our names on are purple (my fave) and blue (his fave).

We went to see "Wicked" last night. It was awesome and we both loved it!
